Hot Tracks: Psy - Gangnam Style (강남스타일)

For those that are unaware, Korea is the premium leader when it comes to musical popularity. Many surrounding Asian countries loyally listen to Korean artists even though it is in a completely different language. Why would they listen to something they cant understand? Because Korean music is catchy, fun, and well produced. Could it ever cross the boat to America? We shall see. 

Park Jae-Sang is a Korean rapper that goes by the name of PSY. Korea usually has their slew of party anthems, like America (think LMFAO and crunk music). And PSY is one known to crank out the party tunes. He started in 2000 and has been popular in South Korea ever since. But his latest party song "Gangnam Style" has recently caught international attention. 

Katy Perry promoted the video on her Twitter account, and now the music video has more than 58 MILLION views! PSY is also now the first Korean artist to reach #1 on the iTunes charts here in US. Nelly Furtado even preformed a rendition of the song at a recent concert. If this takes off, it could open a gate of amazing artists not now known on the American charts. 


THE SONG: Psy - Gangnam Style (강남스타일)

WHATS HOT: Catchy bass, very danceable, and a hilarious video! PSY wrote the entire song as well as choreographed the entire video. You know you will bust out that horse riding at some dance in your lifetime. So you better thank him. 

WHATS NOT: It is nowhere near the best Korean song. Those who know the genre know that there is MUCH better songs out there that deserve international attention. And like any party song, it can get played out quick.

Female Hair Trend: The Side Cut

6 months ago, I met this blonde girl on campus with my friend, Davis. Her facial features were beautifully brought to the foreground. Why? Her side hair cut clearly accentuated her Cameron Diaz like smile. Her hair said edgy like no other. And I cant begin to tell you how wildly attractive it was. 

Another girl I know, who is very forward thinking, recently asked me just 2 days ago what I thought of the style and if she should go for it. I told her it was expressive and daring. I also said DO IT. Why? Because it works. They come in all shapes, sizes, and styles. But one message is clear: This girl rocks. It screams confidence because she is clearly not afraid of what others think.

Whats Hot: In your face, fun, bold and says you will never back down. 

Whats Not: Waiting for that hair to grow back for an important job interview. 

Info: Make sure you go to someone you trust. Make sure you have a clear layout for what its going to look like. This can easily be ruined and a Brittany Spears shaved head may be the only cure for a botched job.

Im gonna let you in on a little secret. Nike's Air Max 90's are a dope retro shoe.  And Justene Jaro is a fresh lady. To kick off this blog, the header features this lovely lady with the shoes. Although I do own the shoes (same color too!), sadly, I have yet to own Justenes heart.

Whats Hot: The hype and fun of the early 90s are coming back. House parties, hip-hop, basketball, and the ability to jump and run higher and faster than your friends. 

Whats Not: The look is dope. But sometimes, because of the high air pocket in the back, haters will tease you for wearing Sketchers "special ed" shoes... shape ups... I believe they are called.

The Girl: Justene Jaro

Whats Hot: Half Filipino, 1/4 latin, 1/4 white. What a combo. I used think asian girls were attractive... then somewhere after high school, all that stopped. But seeing this girl brings me back to my girlfriend when I was 17. Yeah... I could find asian girls attractive again :)

Whats Not: Trying to dig on her background, I found out she posed for Penthouse. That is some skank status. I love babes, but why oh why do they have to pose nude? I just want to have my cake and eat it too :(
